Welcome to Oven of Happiness! I’m so glad you’re here! I’m Stephanie. You can call me Steph – all of my friends do. I’m a self-taught baker living in Indiana with my family.
Baking has always been – and continues to be – one of my favorite ways to de-stress, and I created this blog in August 2012 to emotionally cope with my mother’s cancer. At the time, I was single and had quit my full-time job to help care for my mom during her surgery and ongoing chemo.
A few months after clear test results and much celebrating, my mom’s cancer came back in her colon and had spread to her liver. She passed away in May 2014, 3 months after my husband and I got married. Though she was enduring chemo, she felt and looked wonderful on our wedding day — which I count as one of my life’s greatest blessings.
Fast-forward to today: I’m a wife to one amazing man and a stepmom to three awesome kids. I went from working full-time to staying at home and caring for my mom — then back to working full-time. Currently, I’m staying at home and caring for my family while my husband works and goes to school full-time.
While Oven of Happiness is still a space for me to share my favorite recipes with you, it’s also a place to share the things I’ve learned through my trials and tribulations. I hope you find recipes that you’re excited to try and share with people you love, as well as ideas that warm your heart and help you make your home into your happy place.
So, settle in. And have a s’mores bar. I know you want one.
